The Dotts, Loveland, CO (Sat.5/17-Wed.5/21)

Our St. Paul midway friends – the Dotts!

We had the Dotts over for pizza, a bit of baseball, flag football. We didn't have to coerce the boys much to get them to spend the night, but it left Kim on the short side of an 8 to 1 ratio, but no problem, the boys did great.

The next day the Dotts took us on a family favorite hike - Round Mountain on the way toward Rocky Mountain National park. We had to fight off the snipers catching us in the cross fire (boys throwing pine cones).

We had a grill-out at the Dotts where Elan demonstrated his strawberry short cake expertise.

Another full evening of the boys whipping each other with noodles.

It was great to spend some time with this family again. Loveland is a better town for gaining the Dotts' (though at the expense of St. Paul).

Greetings, to the Nelson Family!

We continue to enjoy reading your travel adventures. It sure looks like you are having a GREAT time.

Would love to ask the boys some questions.

1) How many states have you been to so far?
2) How many miles have you put on the RV?
3) How many times during this year have you needed mechanical assistance for the RV?
4) Any other mathematical facts you are keeping track of on your trip?
5) Most unusual food you have tried during your travels?
6) What do your June travels include?

1) How many states have you been to so far?
We've visited 40 states so far. We were going for 48 states, not including Hawaii and Alaska.
We're probably going to see 43 states overall.

2) How many miles have you put on the RV?
We put 30,238.4 miles on the truck. For the RV, roughly 20,000 miles.

3) How many times during this year have you needed mechanical assistance for the RV?
Once. ( The RV needed tires) And for the truck, once. (It needed a new fuel injector wiring harness). But dad fixed a lot of different stuff himself.

4) Any other mathematical facts you are keeping track of on your trip?
We are memorizing the states and capitals. For me, I've already learned them in 4th grade at
Nova. We are also memorizing the presidents. We have kept electronic banking for our finances. Dad takes about 1000 pictures every month. We take around 200 a month.

5) Most unusual food you have tried during your travels?
The most unusual food we had was probably lobster, which we had in Maine.

6) What do your June travels include?
Getting home as quickly as possible! We are most likely going to get to our grandparents farm by the 4th of June. We'll leave there on the 6th and get our house back to “regular”.
